Our history

The Institute for Development and Integration of child and adolescent (Institute DICA), founded in January 2007, was born of restlessness of a group of people, working in education, noted the large discrepancy between the learning of children and adolescents in the community New Timbo in Pacatuba, which mostly go to school, applying only to the benefit of school meals. It was also the high rate of child malnutrition in the region, due to the low purchasing power of families living there.

    The Institute DICA has promoted actions aimed at improving the quality of life of children and adolescents and their families. Among other activities, include: lectures and videos, facing the problem of environmental degradation, exploitation of the course of food, assembling a core reading community, which has given satisfactory for the students of the locality. Together with the community, the Institute began to seek alternatives to generate employment and income, and to this end has already taught two courses in sewing and an improvement in social management, workshops on making dolls and toys in general , which will allow the entry of families into the labor market.

    The Institute DICA maintains a basic computer course, theater workshop, and is expanding the literary estate of the core reading, but also furniture, and is scheduling another course of sewing, in view of the great demand of the community .

    In 2010, we won 1st place in the Points of Reading Contest, launched by the Cultural Bureau of the State of Ceará (SECULT).
